Affirmations
The following is a list of positive body affirmations given to me by one of my therapists. I find they are most effective when you say them to the mirror, looking yourself square in the eyes. You can even use a washable or dry-erase marker to write the affirmation on the mirror, where you cannot help but notice it every time you look.
• I am in my body, and my body is beautiful. I am more than my body, and I am beautiful.
• I accept my body as it is.
• My body deserves care and respect.
• No one has the right to abuse my body.
• I am a unique, whole person.
• I am more than my physical self; I value my inner qualities more than my looks.
• I have physical and emotional needs, and I deserve to have them met.
• My healthy body deserves to be trusted.
• My inner knowing and intuition are legitimate sources of knowledge.
• My body needs food and sleep, and these give me strength.
• My body goes through changes which are natural and okay.
• My body deserves attention and nutruring.
• Change is not always comfortable, but determination for my goal will help me through.
• Giving is not the be-all of life. I am an important person in this world, too.
